On Saturday night at the Stenhousemuir FC Player of the Year Awards Club Chairman, Martin McNairney, made a surprise announcement informing our Management, Staff, Players and supporters that he was resigning his position as Chairman of the football club and it was his intention to step down formally at the next Club Board meeting due later in the month.

Martin stated that he had been a Director of the club since 1995, serving as Vice-Chairman for 4 years between 2006 and 2010 when he became Chairman in June 2010.

He went on thank everyone connected with the club for the help and encouragement that he had received during his time as Chairman and went on to say that he believed that it was the correct time for him to stand down and make way for people with fresh ideas.

It was his intention to take a back seat at the club giving him time to recharge his batteries and concentrate on his family and his hobby of gardening for a while.

It is his intention to remain as a Director giving the Board the benefit of his advice when required.

Martin was instrumental in starting our fledgling youth system in 1996 and has had a large part in promoting and nurturing it over the years, getting it to the present high standard it has, as one of the leading Club Youth Systems in Scotland, attaining the prestigious SFA Performance level Award and maintaining it there for the last 5 years, a feat managed by very few clubs outside the SPL.

The role of Chairman will be taken over by the present Club Vice-Chairman, Bill Darroch who has been a Director since 2002 when he took on the position of Head of Finance at that time.

Bill, on behalf of everyone associated with the club, thanked Martin for his dedication and contribution to the club over the years.
