Stenhousemuir FC Community Foundation is the official charity of Stenhousemuir Football Club. We believe that sport has the power to change lives and in using our voice as a professional football club to positively impact every household in our community. 

Our goal is to Energise the Community by supporting people through a range of activities that work towards 3 key outcomes – Community Health, Community Help, and Community Wealth-Building.

We currently deliver football activity to over 600 young people aged 18 months – 70+ years. However, since the COVID pandemic we have been responding to the needs of our community by delivering more Community Development (non-football) activities and working with different community partners. We currently deliver several non-football related activities, such as Andy’s Man Club, Sporting Memories and Parenting Multiples Club. 

This new post, funded by the National Lottery, will be responsible for the growth of our Community Development programmes, with a focus on reducing social isolation and improving wellbeing for adults. We will use a holistic,community-led, place-based approach to address local needsand realise the full potential of our local community.

The Community Development Officer will lead in thedevelopment and delivery of our Community Development programme, and be part of a small, high performing team that work together to make Stenhousemuir & Larbert a healthier, happier and more successful place.

It is vital to the success of our Foundation that the Community Development Officer reaches out to those who are notcurrently engaged and empower them to overcome socialbarriers.

Salary:£23,250 (pro-rata)

Job Purpose:

The Community Development Officer will lead in thedevelopment, delivery and evaluation of our Community Development programmes. These programmes will have an overall focus on reducing social isolation and improving wellbeing of adults in our community. The CDO will work in the very heart of the local community, representing Stenhousemuir FC Community Foundation and engaging with local partners to ensure our activities meet the needs of the people we serve. It is vital to the success of the Foundation that we reach out to those who are not currently engaged and empower them to overcome social barriers.

Key Responsibilities 

What the CDO will do:

– Develop and expand current portfolio of complimentary Community Development activities (such as Andys Man Club, Sporting Memories Club, etc).

– Develop new activities that address identified needs.

– Recruit, train and provide on-going support to volunteers to deliver.

– Monitor, Learn and Evaluate all delivery to ensure high standards and maximum impact.

How the CDO will do it:

– Community Engagement: facilitate regular community meetings – with current AND potential participants – to co-create solutions and ensure activities remains responsive to community needs and delivered by local volunteers.

– Partnership Work: work with local & national partners – such as NHS, Falkirk Council, Health & Social Care Partnership – to ensure a holistic approach is taken, avoiding service duplication and maximising the impact in meeting the needs of the community.

Education, Qualifications & Training– Qualified to Degree level (any subject) OR HND Community Development /equivalent qualification OR significantrelevant experience in a similar role.

Employment is conditional on the successful applicant undergoing reference and PVG checks, plus successful completion of a 3-month probation period.
