The Champions are back at Ochilview this weekend where they take on Elgin City in the cinch league two.
Stenhousemuir were crowned champions for the first time in the club’s 140-year history last weekend after a 0-0 draw with East Fife and Peterhead dropping points away at Bonnyrigg. It sparked jubilant scenes from everyone at Ochilview with players, fans, staff and volunteers. The 6th of April will be a day that will live long in the memory of everyone of a Stenhousemuir persuasion.
The champions go into the match off the back of 5 straight draws, with only one goal scored in that time. The goals have really dried up at Ochilview as well, Stenhousemuir have only scored five home goals this year and haven’t scored at home since the game against Clyde at the end of February.
Elgin come into the match on a mixed run of form with two wins, two draws and a defeat in their last five matches. Thier most recent match was a 2-2 draw at home The Spartans
The Warriors had to settle for a point the first time the sides met each other at Borough Briggs. Adam Brwon put the Warriors in front before Ross Meechan got sent off. Stenhousemuir defended well in the second half, but Rory MacEwan scored in the 86th minute to make sure that the points were shared.
Stenhousemuir were victorious at Ochilview in December with a 2-0 win. An early goal from Matty Yates got the Warriors going, and Matty Aitken wrapped up the three points in the second half.
Stenhousemuir then went up to Borough Briggs in February and drew again, Nat Wedderburn took the lead for the Warriors but two Elgin City goals by Russel Dingwall and Brian Cameron saw Elgin go in at half time 2-1 up. But a Euan O’Reilly equaliser in the second half meant Stenhousemuir got a point.
Elgin just edge the head-to-head record with 19 wins to the Warriors 18. The champions have the better record at Ochilview with 12 wins to Elgin’s six.
