All at Stenhousemuir Football Club would like to wish Donald Smillie a very happy birthday as the long time supporter turned 90 last week.

Donald is a well known face at Ochilview having been connected to the club for over 60 years. Brought up in Glasgow before moving to Stenhousemuir, he has been with the Warriors in various capacities since the early 1960s and is honorary club president having served on the board on a number of occasions.

As well as being an ever present in the stands, Donald has been involved in several important initiatives since joining the club. Most notably, he was the driving force in setting up the old Warriors Social Club and was instrumental in the project to cover the terracing. He lead the team of volunteers who built the foundations and back wall to allow the roof to be installed providing vital shelter for away fans visiting Ochilview.

In tribute to Donald’s outstanding service to the club and to mark his 90th birthday, the Tryst Road Terracing will be renamed “The Donald Smillie Enclosure” starting with tomorrow’s visit of Bonnyrigg Rose.

Donald, Helen and family will be guests of the club this weekend and we’re sure everyone will join us in wishing him many happy returns. The club extends our heartfelt thanks to Donald for his many years of service to the Warriors.

Happy Birthday Donald
