Become a Warriors Befriender
The Club is currently providing support to 120 vulnerable people in our community through our Community Help Initiative. The CHI also delivers over 900 lunches to some of the most vulnerable young people, distributes 250 free meals and provides 80 at risk families with 225 food parcels every single week.
This has been achieved thanks for the incredible dedication and compassion of a huge team over over 140 volunteers made up of staff, supporters, board members and community members as well as our wider community. It has been a simply unbelievable effort from everyone involved and we wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has played their part.
We are now looking to provide a further service to the people in our care through a befriending service. This would involve speaking to those vulnerable people once or twice a week to give them some regular contact and someone they can talk to. Many of those that we are supporting are socially isolated and the simple act of keeping in touch with them over a phone call or video call can help to reduce loneliness.
We are hoping that by adding this additional service we can help to reduce the feelings of loneliness and support positive mental health.
We are therefore appealing for people that care and people that want to contribute in a really meaningful way to our CHI and more importantly the vulnerable individuals in our community. If you are one of these people and you can give up a few hours a week to make some potentially life enriching phone calls please get in touch.
