Stenhousemuir Football Club Appoint New Ladies Team Coaches
After an extensive recruitment process we are delighted to announce that Allan Milne & Andrew Quinn have agreed to take over as co-head coaches at Stenhousemuir Football Club. Both Allan & Andrew have a wealth of experience in coaching in Scotland within both the men’s and women’s game. Allan who has previously worked with Partick Thistle, Rossvale and Glasgow University also coaches as a profession with Rangers FC and Andrew has experience of coaching at numerous levels from 4 a-side football through to National Performance where he has previously worked with Cumbernauld Colts and Kilmarnock U23’s.
Speaking about the appointment Football Development Officer – Girls & Youth, Andrew Thomson said “Firstly, I’d like to thank Scott Knox and all of the current players for helping to run the team on an interim basis while we were recruiting a new Head Coach.”
“As for the Head Coach appointment, I’m really excited about the appointment of both Allan and Andrew for Stenhousemuir Football Club. The two coaches were very passionate about the women’s game and in particular both saw the potential that Stenhousemuir FC has to progress in the women’s game. I believe that the ambition that the two coaches have matched extremely well with the clubs plans and most importantly the players we currently have at the club.”
After successfully rebuilding the playing squad in season 2019 and finishing the league season in a respectable 5th place – Stenhousemuir FC are aiming to continue increasing the position and reputation of the clubs women’s team. Andrew Quinn said after his appointment “I am really excited to be taking up the joint role of head coach along with Allan. After being at Kilmarnock LFC and being involved with the U23’s and the U19’s performance team this has given me a real hunger to push on and the opportunity to come to Stenhousemuir FC was an easy one. After speaking with all of the players I feel we definitely have the ability and the drive to be very competitive this year which should set us up great going forward but everyone is aware there is still work to be done before the season starts.”
A lot of work continues to go on for the team both on and off the pitch over the winter break with the new coaching staff looking to recruit new players that can further add to our already competitive squad. As previously mentioned – Stenhousemuir FC are looking to improve the reputation of our ladies team and will now provide regular updates on the official website as well as social media pages. Talking about the recent changes Andrew Thomson said “I am really looking forward to the journey that the ladies team can begin to make at the football club now. It’s an exciting time for women’s football in Scotland overall and Stenhousemuir want to be part of this. To have all of the players pulling in the same direction as the club and the coaching staff is something that can only benefit the team.”
The players and coaches will continue to work over the winter period in preparation for season 2020 as well as concluding the 2019 season with an end of season awards night on Friday 6th of December. Looking forward in to season 2020 Allan Milne added “My main reason for accepting the role was I seen this as a project that I could develop with Andrew and mould from the first team, all the way down through to the youth academy. After meeting with Jamie and Andrew it was easy for me to make a decision as we all had the same vision for the club.” Allan added that “In the short term the plan is to first and foremost build a a competitive squad that want to be successful but as well the girls need to come to Stenhousemuir FC and enjoy them self.” Allan concluded by saying “This is about creating a 4-5 year plan where we work together to help better both the first team as well as the younger girls teams. We want to create an environment where it is friendly and welcoming for everyone involved at Stenhousemuir FC.”
Good Luck to Allan, Andrew & Stenhousemuir FC Ladies for Season 2020.
