The Club is delighted to announce that top goal scorer Mark McGuigan has signed a 2 year contract extension which will see the striker remain at Ochilview until June 2021. Stenhousemuir FC rejected several transfer bids for McGuigan in the recent Janaury transfer window as First Team Manager Colin McMenamin looks to hold on to key players, finish the season strongly and build for next season. McGuigan also had a number of offers on the table for next season from rival clubs which he has turned down in favour of prolonging his stay at Stenhousemuir FC.
McMenamin commented on the deal;
‘I am obviously delighted to get Mark signed up as we’ve been working on it for a while. He played a huge part in our promotion last season and has been our main scorer again this season. He is a great player to work with and it shows our intent that we have signed him early for the next 2 years.’
McGuigan explained his reasons for re-signing with the Warriors;
‘I am very pleased to get my deal across the line and to be able to commit to Stenny for the next 2 years at least. I’ve been speaking to the Manager for a while now and I’m just glad everything is now sorted and I can focus on helping us finish this season as strongly as we possibly can. I have loved my first 2 years here so it wasn’t a particularly difficult decision to stay, hopefully I will be able to add a few more goals this season and over my next 2 years’
Colin McMenamin is already building for next season with Smith, Gibbons and Munro also already signed for season 2019-20. The re-signing of fans favourite McGuigan hopefully helps the Club achieve survival this season and allows supporters to look forward to next season with confidence.
