Mental health issues can affect any one of us.

But football can help, and FIFA has recently recognised Stenhousemuir FC for leading the way across the world in tackling mental health issues.

The club is rightly proud of its mental health programme, particularly the participants who are the stars of the show.

Iain McMenemy, Chairman of Stenhousemuir said, “There’s always more we can do to recognise mental health issues and offer support where we can.  Football is a perfect way to do this.  For the duration of the training sessions or during games, all that matters is getting out there, working as a team, supporting each other, and enjoying the sessions.

“The participants are an inspiration to us all and I’m proud of their association with our club.  I’d also pay tribute to our coaches, led by Will Hoggan, and the Forth Valley nurses who have all contributed to the continued success of the programme.

“Mental health is something we should all be talking about openly and honestly and if the club can do anything more to help, we’re up for the challenge.”
