Stenhousemuir Ladies 3 – 0 East Fife Violet
28th June, Ochilview Park, 2pm Kick Off
Our Ladies closed off the first half of the season with a well earned 3-0 victory over East Fife Violets at Ochilview with goals from Marni Russell, Sinead Thomson and Rebecca Cheape as well as a fine team performance.
Marni (pictured above in possession), who opened the scoring, commented: "Sunday was a great result and a great performance by everyone. On a personal note I managed to go through three pairs of football boots and even managed to get myself on the score sheet, which may I add was with Jamie's shooting boots! I am looking forward to the second half of the season as we are gelling together just nicely".
Goalkeeper Leigh Skelton, after keeping a clean sheet, added "The girls came together as a team and worked their socks off to get a thoroughly deserved win at last, we are all really looking forward to the second half of the season where we hope to continue gaining points and climbing the table".
Competitive fixtures for the ladies will resume in mid August as the league shuts down during the full month of July, but the squad will be continuing to work hard over that period. Coach Jamie Kirk had this to say about the season so far "It's been a pleasure working with the girls so far this season, we've got such a likeable, hard working and talented group of players. The last two competitive outings have seen us gain reward for our work with 4 points out of 6 and it's nice for the girls to experience that. It was fantastic to see one or two of our girls under 13s at the game on Sunday too, and I hope that we can see much more of that at the mens and womens first team matches in the future. I'd encourage everyone to get along to Ochilview when either of the teams are playing, you are sure to be entertained".
