Statement from Stenhousemuir FC on the recent transition of Falkirk based Dundee Utd Boys Club to Stenhousemuir FC

Stenhousemuir FC has a strong Youth & Academy structure that is recognised as being one of the best in Scotland.  The Club has attained the ‘Performance Level’ within the SFA Youth Development Programme which is the highest level for youth development in Scotland.

Around nine months ago, the coaches that were working with the Falkirk based Dundee Utd Boys Club (under 10s), approached Stenhousemuir FC with a specific request to affiliate themselves with Stenhousemuir FC.

They recognised that as they were running their Boys Club in the local area, there would be many advantages and benefits in a close affiliation with a strong local team.  They had identified Stenhousemuir FC as being able to provide the closer link to a senior team structure that they were looking for, whilst also having a strong, SFA recognised Youth & Academy Structure.

After reviewing their request, we were delighted to welcome them into the Club, and we worked with their coaches to facilitate a smooth transition.  In order to cement the affiliation, the club was renamed the Stenhousemuir Boys Club.

Since the transition was completed, the Boys Club has gone from strength to strength and we understand that both the coaches and players are delighted with the move.

There is a shared understanding amongst the vast majority of football clubs in Scotland, from the small teams right up to those attached to the large Clubs, that grass roots football, and providing structured opportunities for those with ability, will act as an investment in the future of the game in Scotland.
